We have received your ransom note and demands for the safe return of our flock. Although your note required a response by 9pm EST, we were busy nesting with our back-to-schoolers and so did not discover the missing flock until after this time. We hope that you will consider our response within a reasonable timeframe.
 
Of course, the Girl Scouts of Auburn would be delighted to have breakfast with the Auburn Fire Department (and not just because of your current possessions!). Please let us know the date and time that is most convenient for you, dear kidnappers.
 
And our deepest thanks for leaving the ransom note! At first we thought our flock had taken flight for good – they are known to fly almost 400 miles in one night when they are up for the journey.
